Chiffchaff singing this week

In April if you know what to listen for you, should be able to hear a chiffchaff calling. They are often the first of the spring migrants to be heard in woody

areas and shrubby gardens. Here is one I recorded this week. They repeat their own name in a thin sweet refrain. Chiff chiff chaff - chiff chiff chaff - chiff. Or sometimes a more half hearted: chiff - chiff - chiff.
